BS EN 14960-2

A specialist inspection for permanent installations

Part 2 of BS EN 14960:2019 covers permanently installed bouncing pillows. Dave has completed the updated training required to inspect this specialist type of equipment.

Dave can carry out the annual inspection at your site and issue a PIPA tag for any bouncing pillow that successfully passes its inspection.

What the inspection covers

The exact checks depend on the installation, manufacturer information and applicable requirements.

  • Pillow and surroundings

Condition of the bouncing surface, seams, edges, impact-absorbing surround, clearances and perimeter arrangements.

  • Installation and surrounding area

The permanent installation, supporting surface and surrounding area, including any signs of movement, damage or deterioration.

  • Inflation and fan system

Operating pressure, air loss, fan suitability, electrical supply and protection around the blower equipment.

  • Clearances and perimeter

Required clear space, impact-absorbing material, fencing, gates and separation from nearby hazards.

  • Documents and operation

Manufacturer information, markings, user limits, operating instructions and relevant inspection or maintenance records.

  • PIPA record and tag

When the pillow passes, Dave completes the applicable PIPA inspection record and tag details for the installation.

Inspecting the installation in detail

The visit considers the pillow itself as well as its edges, surrounding impact area, perimeter arrangements, fan system and available records. Read more about the wider PIPA inspection scheme, testing costs and travel, or what a PIPA record shows.
